THE DEAD SEA - A GIFT OF NATURE

A world famous treasure trove of health and beauty since antiquity, the Dead Sea is a gift of nature. Rich in life enhancing minerals, the Dead Sea waters and mud have been acclaimed throughout the ages. This unique body of water is situated on the Syrian-African fault, a geological phenomenon that came into being some three million years ago during a great natural upheaval. Many ancient layers of mineral-rich earth were exposed, salt water springs erupted forming a valley and lake - 400 meters (1300 feet ) below sea level - the lowest spot on earth. An evaporation process continuing for thousands of years resulted in increased levels of minerals and salt in that lake, today known as the Dead Sea. The composition of the Dead Sea is considered unique, containing the highest levels of magnesium, calcium and potassium in comparison to any other body of salt water in the world, including the oceans.

Since ancient times a multitude of people have come to the region to relax, enjoy its beauty, and experience the healing, beautifying and rejuvenating powers of the Dead Sea. These visitors soak in the famous waters and coat themselves in the celebrated revitalizing black mud.

Medical research has determined that the unique blend of powerful minerals and salts found in the water and mud of the Dead Sea is highly beneficial for the relief of various skin problems. As in the past, the Dead Sea continues to attract tens of thousands of visitors annually to its many vacation and treatment Spas.

Today, busy women - and men - can enjoy the benefits of the Dead Sea right in their own homes by using Belmon's Mineral Care line of high quality beauty and skincare products, incorporating the amazing powers of the Dead Sea.

Pure & Simple: African Redbush Tea Extract
Centuries ago in the cradle of mankind, South Africa, the Khoisan tribe discovered a bush growing only on the hillsides of the striking Cederburg Mountains, and using a process probably copied from Malay slaves, began brewing the leaves for their amazing herbal benefits.

As a plentiful wild plant, it was gathered and widely used as a tonic, well known for its delicious taste and beautiful red color. The people also began using the steeped leaves to soothe sunburn, rashes and other skin irritations topically, and African Redbush Tea became one of the most widely used herbs in the country.

Not until the last part of the 20th Century were the powerful antioxidant properties of the Redbush ("Rooibos" in Afrikaans) hailed by scientists who identified the flavinoid quercetin, prominent in the tea extract, as one of the most pharmacologically active flavinoids. Quercetin and luteolin, both present in the tea, have been shown additionally to be both anti-spasmodic and anti-inflammatory. Caffeine free, it undergoes no chemical processing to extract caffeine and is still processed the same way it was centuries ago; gathered, mashed and dried in huge yards under the African sun.

Recently, award-winning research by leading South African scientist Janine Marnewick, Medical Research Council, Tyberg, South Africahas shown that "skin that was topically treated with fermented and unfermented rooibos (African Redbush Tea) before cancer promotion, showed a 75% decrease in the development of skin papillomas!  Both the development and size of the skin papillomas were delayed and decreased respectivelyl  The study was repeated and the results confirmed." www.redbushtea.com, Spring 2005 Newsletter
